We can perform a paternity test from an amniocentesis procedure. This process involves an insertion of a thin fine needle through the mother's belly in order to obtain fluid (about two tablespoons) from the unborn child. This fluid contains the baby's DNA. (Possible risks associated with this procedure must be discussed with your doctor/health care provider).
This procedure is usually performed on women over the age of 35 whose unborn child may be at a high risk for chromosomal abnormalities. In addition, pregnant mothers who are in need of a paternity test can request this procedure providing that she is at least in her 13th week of pregnancy but no later than the 20th. Determine if you need the testing results for personal reasons or legal reasons (see the procedures below).
Additional Services: This procedure allows us to obtain the unborn child's DNA, therefore, expectant parent(s) can request a sex determination test for an additional fee of $120. This request must be made prior to the mother's amnio appointment.

Personal test from an amnio:
o FREE DNA collection kits are mailed to the biological mother and alleged father for collection of their DNA right at home. These DNA samples are mailed back to Atlanta DNA Center, Inc.
o Special tubes and packaging materials are sent directly to the doctor's office prior to the mother's scheduled amnio appointment. The amnio fluid is a time sensitive material, and therefore sent directly to the laboratory for overnight delivery.
o Testing with this 'special specimen' will take 7-10 working days after all 3 samples have been received by the lab. Testing may take up to 15 working days depending on the viability of the samples. The results will indicate either 0% or >99% probability of paternity.
o Fee: $650 -for the DNA analysis of the alleged father, unborn child and biological mother and includes the 'special specimen' (amnio).

Legal test from an amnio:
o ALL necessary materials are mailed directly to the doctor's office. At the time of the scheduled amnio appointment the doctor will collect the biological mother and alleged father's DNA. The doctor will establish the required chain-of-custody for each participant.
o Special tubes and packaging materials are used for the amnio collection performed by the doctor. The amnio fluid is a time sensitive material, and therefore sent directly to the laboratory for overnight delivery along with the biological mother and alleged father's DNA.
o Testing with this 'special specimen' will take 7-10 working days after all 3 samples have been received by the lab. Testing may take up to 15 working days depending on the viability of the samples. The results will indicate either 0% or >99% probability of paternity.
o Fee: $800 -for the DNA analysis of the alleged father, unborn child and biological mother and includes the 'special specimen' (amnio).
